Kaizer Chiefs blatantly told their target can’t be achieved as questions are raised about Gaston Sirino

Kaizer Chiefs have been told their chances of qualifying for the CAF inter-club competition are not realistic.

The Glamour Boys Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr., recently claimed the main target for Amakhosi is finishing second to play in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League. Currently, the Soweto giants are on 33 points which places them fifth in the log.

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Thembinkosi Biyela insists it will be a tall order for the club to realise their objective, and the best they can do is to finish in the top eight.

Kaizer Chiefs are playing to grind results

“There are claims that yesterday the Chiefs players displayed hunger, but I say going forward, their focus should be on playing well and obtaining results,” Biyela said as quoted by Kick Off.

“Instead, they are now playing merely to grind out results. It is evident that the co-coaches may have lost clarity on which players to include in their starting lineup.

“I question whether they enter matches with a coherent plan, as the current selection does not seem to align with their originally stated ideals,” he added.

Kaizer Chiefs asked about Sirino

Biyela asked about Gaston Sirino and why he is not getting playtime regularly despite getting a lot of money.

“Furthermore, paying Gaston Sirino a significant salary while starting him on the bench raises questions. He deserves to start every match. We should not be discussing a Champions League qualification when teams like Sekhukhune United are also competing. Chiefs are now targeting a top-eight finish,” he stated.

“The upcoming matches will be challenging, especially since their next two opponents are considered smaller teams, which have historically posed difficulties for Chiefs.

“It is imperative that they win both fixtures. Durban City nearly equalized last night; two of their shots were cleared off the line. To be honest our hope has diminished,” Biyela concluded.
