Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up for a Betway Premiership clash against Polokwane City in this midweek as they look to continue their strong start to the season.

TEAMS RECENT RESULTS

Amakhosi began their season in style, earning a 2-0 victory against Stellenbosch FC. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Glody Lilepo netted the goals that secured all three points at the Athlone Stadium. This win puts Chiefs in a strong position early in the season.

On the other hand, Polokwane City had to settle for a point in their season opener. They played out a 0-0 draw against Magesi FC at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

As Chiefs prepare to face Polokwane, they will be looking to build on their winning momentum against a team that is still searching for its first win of the season.

CHIEFS – POLOKWANE LAST SEASON’S HEAD-TO-HEAD

Chiefs will be looking to improve their recent record against Polokwane City when the two teams clash on Wednesday.

The last time these teams met in the league, Polokwane City had the upper hand, making this upcoming match a chance for Chiefs to reclaim dominance.

Last season, Rise and Shine earned a comfortable 2-0 win at home in the first half of the campaign. The second encounter at FNB Stadium was a stalemate, with both teams settling for a 0-0 draw.

The last time Chiefs secured a victory against Polokwane City was in the 2023/24 season, a narrow 1-0 win away from home. Chiefs will be hoping to get back to winning ways and secure a crucial three points in this highly anticipated fixture.

TEAM NEWS

Chiefs have received a significant boost ahead of their upcoming Betway Premiership match against Polokwane City.

Assistant coach Cedric Kaze, who addressed the media in place of head coach Nasreddine Nabi, confirmed that Paseka Mako and Ethan Chislett are fit and ready to play.

Chiefs will be strengthened by the return of Pule Mmodi, who is available for selection after serving his one-match suspension. Mmodi, who watched the season opener from the sidelines, will be a valuable option for the team as they prepare for their home game against Polokwane City.

On the other side, Polokwane City will continue to be without Thabang Matuludi, as the defender remains out with a long-term injury.
