South Africa are set for the second 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) outing on Friday against Egypt in Group B of the biennial competition.
Bafana Bafana defeated Angola 2-1 in their first outing on Monday the same as the seven-time winners who beat Zimbabwe by the same margin. It is a vital fixture for both teams since the win might determine who will top the group.
In his Christmas message, the legend of the Premier Soccer League has wished Bafana Bafana the best and insists they have what it takes to advance.
We believe in Bafana Bafana’s strength
“We also send our best wishes to our national men’s team, Bafana Bafana, who are currently in Morocco representing Mzansi at the Africa Cup of Nations,” Motaung stated.
“We watched the opening game against Angola and now look forward to the clash against Egypt on Family Day, 26 December.
“As Kaizer Chiefs, we know the challenges of playing against teams from those countries after recently playing Kabuscorp of Angola and Zamalek and Al Masry from Egypt, yet we believe in your strength and resilience as South Africans to prevail,” he added.
It has been a special case for Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs won Nedbank Cup this year, ending their decade-long drought and he hopes they will sustain their good run. They are just four points behind leaders Orlando Pirates and are in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
“This year has been a special one for Kaizer Chiefs. We celebrated our 55th anniversary, a milestone that speaks to the legacy and resilience of our Club,” Motaung continued.

“To put the cherry on top, our senior team rewarded your unwavering support with the Nedbank Cup trophy and a return to one of CAF’s club competitions, the Confederation Cup.
“Our reserve team also made history by lifting the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] trophy for the very first time in record-breaking fashion. These achievements are gifts that we hope have brought smiles to our loyal supporters in 2025,” he concluded.
