Since then, Miguel Cardoso’s side have found their feet, going unbeaten in three competitive outings, including a 3-2 extra-time win over Polokwane City in the MTN8 and a battling 1-1 draw at Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, with substitute Cassius Mailula heading home a stoppage-time leveller.

Gallants arrive under new head coach Phuti Mohafe still searching for their first win of the campaign, having drawn with newcomers Kruger United before suffering a 3-1 defeat at Stellenbosch. Bahlabane Ba Ntwa go into the match without a win in 13 matches in all competitions.

History is heavily in the hosts’ favour: Sundowns are unbeaten in all eight league meetings between the sides since Gallants’ promotion in 2021/22, winning six and drawing two, with the Brazilians having never lost to Gallants in the league.
