Mamelodi Sundowns opened a three-point gap on top of the Premier Soccer League table thanks to their 2-0 win against Sekhukhune United on Tuesday night at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
In his first start, Colombian striker Brayan Leon found the back of the net to complement Nuno Santos’s initial strike. It was a massive win for Masandawana, who struggled to break their hosts for 90 minutes before the goals came in the added minutes.
Another player who made his debut for Masandawana is Khulumani Ndamane who was signed from TS Galaxy.
Coach Miguel Cardoso is happy with the influence the Bafana Bafana star had at the heart of the club’s defense. He believes the youngster has shown what he is bringing on the table for Masandawana.
Ndamane lauded for his influence
“That is a young player arriving at Sundowns, rest assured and go on the pitch and show the game that he showed. The game that he showed was fantastic,” the former Esperance tactician told the media.
“It puts him in a comfortable position regarding that expectations that people have when a new player plays for the first time. It’s always good to have a good start. But I think his performance was aligned with all the other ones, from the players around. Kegan also made a fantastic game.

“Getting a victory today lifts the morale of the team. It gives energy. I did say this championship will probably be played until the end in a very tough way. It has to do with the reinforcement of our opponents year after year.
“They gather energy in order to fight the years of success that Sundowns has been having. We just need to be committed in the good moments and in the ones that are not so good,” Cardoso concluded.
