SAFA unhappy with FIFA over Sundowns legend
SAFA expresses disappointment after FIFA dismisses Themba Zwane’s red card appeal. Bafana will now have to face Canada in the Round of 32 in the absence of Zwane, who will sit out the final of his three-match ban.

“We are disappointed with the outcome of our appeal because we strongly believe that the punishment is far harsher than the offence that Themba is said to have committed,” SAFA said in a statement.
How Williams recovered from losing his brother
After losing his brother Marvin in a tragic car accident in 2010, Ronwen Williams felt he had lost his purpose. For months, he resisted calls to return to football until one conversation changed everything.
Now the captain of Bafana Bafana, Williams’ journey is a powerful story of resilience, family, loss and fulfilment of potential.
Why Masandawana star deserves more praise
Bafana Bafana will not need to look further for confidence against Canada in the 2026 FIFA World Cup round of 32, as former South Africa striker Jerry Sikhosana explained why Thapelo Maseko deserves a hero’s praise.
Sikhosana could not stress more the character that the former SuperSport United winger showed to stay concentrated, after early missed opportunities.
“You go back to the second game, it was the same problem with him, because in the first-half he had a lot of chances, unfortunately in the second-half when everybody thought, even myself, to say ‘Why don’t we sub him?’ That’s when he made an attempt to get a penalty against Czechia,” Sikhosana said on Newzroom Afrika.
“This time around, first-half, I think three clear-cut chances, I think it goes with courage from a player from within, because sometimes when you know you didn’t do something good in the field and you get a lot of booing from supporters, sometimes it takes your mind off the game, you become a worse player.

“But I’ll give him credit because it takes a lot of character and energy, especially when you play for the national team. I’ve done that at club level, where I was booed out but I stayed strong, I made sure that ’95 we’ve got that star of Orlando Pirates, it takes character from an individual and this is what Maseko showed to us,” Sikhosana added.
