PSL confirm MTN8 final venue draw

The PSL has confirmed that the draw to decide the venue for the 2026 MTN8 final between Sundowns and Orlando Pirates will take place on Monday tonight.

The draw will be broadcast live at 20:00 on SuperSport PSL (Channel 202).

Defending champions Pirates are chasing an unprecedented fifth successive Wafa Wafa title. Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side reached the final by beating Sekhukhune United 1-0 and 3-0 over the two legs of their semi-final.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns had a much tougher route as Golden Arrows proved stubborn opposition and won the first leg 1-0 in the semi-final.

The Brazilians overturned that in the return leg with a hard-fought 3-2 win, which sent them through to the final.

Mosimane on Sundowns veteran’s role at Bafana

Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has been cryptic about why Themba Zwane was included in the squad for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea and the friendly against Egypt.

His selection has been a talking point since the squad was named.

Zwane was in the match-day squad for Saturday’s 2-1 win over Guinea in Orlando but did not play. He was seen in a lengthy chat with Mosimane just before the coach replaced Iqraam Rayners with Yanela Mbuthuma, who then provided the assist for the winning goal.

Asked about that conversation, Mosimane said he had spoken to the whole team, including Lebone Seema, and not only Zwane.

“It’s very difficult for me to explain to you why I bring Thembza Zwane, because you’re looking at the age,” he said as per iDiski Times.

“And you are right if you’re looking at the age, but he is very, very important for me. He knows the team well. He knows the players well.”
