Mayo warns Pirates: ‘I want to score again vs Bucs, it is a great feeling’

Bafana Bafana striker Khanyisa Mayo has warned Orlando Pirates that he will not hesitate to find the back of the net if he gets a chance.

On Sunday, the CR Belouizdad forward will be at the Orlando Stadium, playing against the hosts in Group C of the Caf Champions League. The win for the Buccaneers will grant them a ticket to the knockout phase.

In the first meeting, Mayo scored as his North African team fell 2-1 against the Soweto giants. The Algerian outfit are placed third on the table with six points, knowing anything less than a win might not work for them since their fate will be lying elsewhere.

The South African is expecting a thrilling encounter but hopes it will eventually end in his team's favour.

‘Who wants it more will win it' – Mayo

“Yes, I definitely expect to score again. I currently have three goals in all competitions. I believe the team has given itself a chance to qualify for the knockout stages, and since I’m from South Africa, there’s an additional excitement surrounding Sunday's game,” he told SNL24.

“On Sunday, I expect a high-intensity game, with both teams eager to qualify for the knockout stages. It’s going to be a thrilling match—the difference will likely come down to who wants it more.

“It’s always a great feeling to score against a big team like Orlando Pirates. In football, ultimately, whoever creates the better chances can win the game,” Mayo concluded.

Al Ahly will play Stade d'Abidjan away in the other Group C game.
