Bafana Bafana feel they were denied a late penalty against Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group B game that was played in Agadir.
Hugo Broos’ men had gone down to a controversial Mohamed Salah penalty in the first half, and were battling to get at least a point against a 10-man seven-time champions. South Africa thought they have been given a lifeline when Yasser Ibrahim handled the ball in 18 yard area.
However, the referee, despite a lengthy check on VAR, opted against handing the 1996 winners a penalty.

New Chicago Fire signing Mbekezeli Mbokazi was left disappointed with the move by the officials not to hand his team a penalty. The 20-year-old concedes there is no option but to focus on the forthcoming date with Zimbabwe on Monday.
“Yeah we also hoped that it was a penalty but we don’t know how the referee’s decided not to give it [penalty], nonetheless we will have to accept their decision and move on to the next match and make sure that we win it,” he told the media.
“We have to move on from the referee’s decision, what happened has happened, we can’t cry over spilled milk, we just have to fight in our next game and get a positive result,” Mbokazi concluded.

South Africa and Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune was left surprised that the penalty call didn’t stand.
“A very disappointing decision that the referee has made,” the former Glamour Boys tactician said during his analysis on SABC2.
“We thought we got a clear penalty, we all saw it, it was inside the box. Why he didn’t give it, only he knows.
“very disappointing decision from the referee,” Khune concluded.
