Pitso Mosimane has suffered his third consecutive loss as the manager of the Persian Gulf League outfit Esteghlal.

The 60-year-old started his reign at the Blue Boys with a 3-1 loss against Kheybar Khorramabad before another 2-0 loss versus Tractor.

On Monday, the Iranian side played Neymar's Al Hilal in the AFC Champions League at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.

Mosimane's Esteghlal silenced by Mitrovic

Al Hilal started the game on a high and needed just 15 minutes to get their first goal after Nasser Al Dawsari set up Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The 30-year-old Serbia international then added his second goal in the 33rd minute with Renan Lodi providing the assist to ensure the first half ended 2-0 in favour of the hosts.

Mitrovic sealed his hat trick in the 74 minute when he converted Joao Cancelo's pass to ensure his team ended the evening in style. Neymar was introduced in the 58th minute but was forced off with what looked like a hamstring injury.

What next for Mosimane?

The loss on Monday is a massive blow for Esteghlal who have initially won the AFC Champions League twice.

The result leaves his team in the seventh position on the West table having collected just one point from the four matches they have played in the competition.

Ahead of the Fifa international break, Mosimane will be up against Mes Rafsanjan on Saturday in the Persian Gulf League.

Esteghlal are 14th in the domestic league having collected just eight points. A win will improve their position considering the fact that they are just two positions above the relegation zone.
