‘Mofokeng is overrated, Modiba is best full-back but what did Broos see in Sibisi? Makgopa & Foster will struggle at AFCON’

Bafana Bafana played Ghana’s CHAN squad in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) build-up on Tuesday evening.

South Africa scored the lone goal of the match courtesy of Sipho Mbule who caught the goalkeeper out of position in the second half. The hosts struggled to get more goals and were lucky to get a win.

Have a look at the reactions from Mzansi after the outing, as sampled by Afrik-Foot.

Nkota and Appollis will be amazing together

Aubrey Modiba is probably the best left back we have ever had in a long time. On the right wing, we need Thapelo Morena, on left centre-back we need Mbokazi. Teboho Mokoena is the engine of Bafana Bafana, then we cook –  Obedience Prosper

Relebohile Mofokeng is overrated; he can’t even measure his passes. Then there’s Evidence Makgopa – Taylor Tee Hong

Elias Mokwana is overrated. Midfield was better in the first half. Mohau Nkota and Oswin Appolis together would be amazing and maybe play Rele as a no.10 – Simbulele Jewels Nqimfa

All the time I watch Nkosinathi Sibisi play, even at Bucs, I wonder what these coaches really see – Khashane Desmond Trevor Matlou

A lackluster performance from the boys as Orlando Pirates won it for the nation yet again – Teboho Semela

The boys didn’t impress me at all

It was a friendly; you don’t go all out on a friendly match less than a week before a major tournament. Do ya’ll ever use common sense? – Amu Rayz

The combination of Bathusi Aubaas and Teboho Mokeana in the middle of the park is not working; it’s better when you play one of them with Thalente Mbatha or Sithole – Nokubonga Precious

Evidence Makgopa and Lyle Foster won’t score more than five goals combined in AFCON or World Cup, they will say I’m a hater, but let me cool – Ibanathi Mlambisa

We take the win, but we should have hammered this B Team by at least three goals just to make a statement – Annyon Thando Mous

The boys didn’t impress me at all. There’s nothing to talk about from this game, but at least they won. On Monday, I want to see how they will handle the first game – Malume Wabatshana
