Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has praised Ashley Du Preez, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, and Pule Mmodi following their 2-1 victory over Richards Bay FC in the Betway Premiership.

This was their third victory while they have also drawn two and lost one of their opening six league fixtures.

Nabi singled out Du Preez for his match-winning goal, while also commending Mthethwa's “unbelievable performance” and Mmodi’s contribution to the team's overall success.

WHO WERE THREE CHIEFS PLAYERS NABI APPLAUDED

“Very happy with the players that started today, especially Ashley,” Nabi told media.

“It’s going to give him more confidence going forward. Ox, unbelievable performance. Mmodi he did his job very well but we believe that they can do better.”

Nabi acknowledged that some of the changes made to the starting lineup were unplanned, necessitated by player suspensions.

“Most of the changes that we did were not planned,” he admitted.

“They were by necessity because of the circumstances of the game, the red card in the first five minutes.

“Then you need to put [Dillan] Solomons as a right-back. Then after we changed our set-up going into the back five when we introduced TT [Thatoyaone Ditlhokwe] and [Samkelo] Zwane in the midfield and at the end [Christian] Saile because we wanted to block the width and block the centre of the field because we noticed that they had height in attacking.

“There were a lot of crosses, a lot of long balls. We needed to put people that can deal with that and those changes we believe that they helped us to get the three points.”
