Ngezana’s club FCSB joins Sundowns & Pirates in Bafana Bafana defender’s race

A compelling transfer battle is brewing for TS Galaxy's and Bafana Bafana's standout defender, Khulumani Ndamane, with Siyabonga Ngezana’s FCSB now formally expressing interest, according to FARPost.

The 21-year-old centre-back has been one of the revelations of the season, bursting onto the Betway Premiership scene after joining ‘The Rockets' as a free agent.

His immediate impact saw him solidify a spot in the starting eleven, forming crucial partnerships with teammates such as McBerth Mahlangu and Mlungisi Mbunjana.

Ndamane, who left Kaizer Chiefs DDC at the close of last season, showcased remarkable consistency by making 27 appearances across all competitions in his inaugural top-flight campaign.

His stellar club form quickly translated into national team recognition. Ndamane received a call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, although an unfortunate passport issue led to his temporary withdrawal.

However, his talent couldn't be ignored, and he soon rejoined the Bafana team for international friendly matches against Tanzania and Mozambique in Polokwane.

His senior national team debut against the Taifa Stars was exceptional, as he played the full 90 minutes and deservingly walked away with the Man of the Match accolade.

NDAMANE ALSO WANTED BY PIRATES AND SUNFOWS

Such commanding performances have naturally attracted significant attention. Beyond FCSB's strong enquiry, reliable sources indicate that Mamelodi Sundowns are also keen to sign the KZN-born talent, with Orlando Pirates having also made initial enquiries, setting the stage for a potential tug-of-war for Ndamane's signature.

The Brazilians possibly want him as a Lucas Suarez’s replacement with the Argentine looking set to depart.
