Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana are among the teams people feel can challenge for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) going on in Morocco.
South Africa finished third in the 2023 edition staged in Ivory Coast and prior to the ongoing edition, they had gone 26 games across all competitions without testing defeat.
However, they were not convincing in the Group stage despite two wins and a loss that ensured they finish second with six points, one less than Egypt who managed two wins and a draw.

On Sunday, Bafana Bafana play Cameroon in the Round of 16 hoping to advance to the quarter-final.
Davids makes his prediction
Raja Casablanca coach Fadlu Davids doesn’t believe Bafana Bafana are among ‘the most dangerous’ teams in Morocco. Apart from the hosts, the former Orlando Pirates coach has tipped the 2021 champions the Lions of Teranga to go all the way in North Africa.
“Of course, Morocco are favourites as the hosts, but I’m really impressed with Senegal,” Davids told the Five-a-Side Podcast.
“They are a dynamic team, fluid in terms of their passing and really aggressive in the final third. They are a team that probably looks the most dangerous at this stage of the tournament,” he concluded.
