Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are locked in a fierce Premier Soccer League title race, while Kaizer Chiefs are hoping to secure a CAF Confederation Cup spot.

As it is, Masandawana are on top of the table with 65 points from the 28 games, having won 19 matches, drawn eight, and lost once. The Sea Robbers have been good in the ongoing campaign as they have managed 19 victories from the 27 outings, but spoils have been shared five times, with three ending in defeats.

Amakhosi recovered from a bad form in the mid-season to push for the top-three positions. They are currently on 48 points, five more than closest challengers AmaZulu.

The Glamour Boys have 13 victories after 27 assignments in the South African top-flight football, nine draws, and five losses.

On Saturday, Masandawana will be hosting Siwelele FC at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium, a couple of days after a 1-1 draw with Amakhosi which dented the team’s hopes of defending their title, the Brazilians will be going for nothing less than maximum points.

However, they will have to do without the services of Jayden Adams for the rest of the season after his sending off against Chiefs. This means coach Miguel Cardoso will have to consider either Siphelele Mkhulise or Bathusi Aubaas for the two games remaining.

Amakhosi will face Sekhukhune United on Sunday without their tough-tackling midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu. The 29-year-old received his fourth yellow card of the campaign on Wednesday against Masandawana, meaning he is suspended for the fixture.

It is a blow for Chiefs who will also have to do without the services of Mduduzi Shabalala for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old broke his arm in the recent outing.
