Orlando Pirates have once again pulled a major surprise by confirming the arrival of a key Bafana Bafana player who was being chased by Kaizer Chiefs.
Just recently, the Sea Robbers confirmed the arrival of Sipho Mbule, who had been released by Mamelodi Sundowns as a free agent. The 27-year-old had been heavily linked to the Glamour Boys, but the management showed no interest in the experienced South Africa midfielder.
Since the arrival of new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, Bucs have signed eight players, and on Wednesday, they confirmed the arrival of another experienced attacker in their bid to challenge for the Premier Soccer League next season.
Oswin Appollis is a Buccaneer
Appollis joined Polokwane City from Pretoria Callies at the beginning of the 2023/24 Premier Soccer League campaign. He has since played 59 games for Rise & Shine, with a return of nine goals and six assists.
The speedy winger has also been a key player for Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana and is expected to make the National Team's squad that will play in the 2025 Africa Cup Nations, Afcon, to be played in Morocco later in the year. Moving to Pirates will definitely see his game continue developing by virtue of playing alongside quality players.
However, Appollis arrival might be a sign that either Relebohile Mofokeng or Monnapule Saleng is heading to the exit door. Mofokeng has been heavily linked with a move to Europe, with a host of clubs salivating for his services. Saleng, on the other hand, is not on good terms with the management which has seen him being left in the cold since December last year.
