Ouaddou Credits “Super Subs” for Pirates’ MTN8 Glory

Published on by

Orlando Pirates clinched the MTN8 title with a commanding 3-0 win against Stellenbosch FC, a victory their head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou credits to the brilliant impact of his new signings.

Ouaddou’s decision to bring on Oswin Appollis, Tshepang Moremi, and Tshegofatso Mabasa proved to be a masterstroke. The trio came off the bench and immediately changed the game's dynamic, providing the energy and skill needed to break down a resilient Stellenbosch side.

Moremi's performance was nothing short of spectacular, earning him the Man of the Match award. He was directly involved in three goals in extra time, scoring two himself and setting up another with a pinpoint assist.

Appollis also shined, providing two crucial assists that contributed to the winning margin. The immediate success of these players not only secures another trophy for the Buccaneers but also sends a clear message about the strength and depth of Ouaddou's new-look squad.

OUADDOU ON ‘DIFFERENCE’ MADE BY SUBSTITUTES

“I think it was very tactical game; you’ve seen it with goals. I said to the players that this game will be won with small details and tactically I’d like to congratulate them first because they were brave, believing until the end,” Ouaddou said on SuperSport.

“I know that the most important thing is to be strong to have a very strong defence inside our team block, to be very strong, be united and work inside the block because we know that any time, we have weapon to win that game and it’s what happened.

“The changes were in the bench; we know that we will bring them and they will make the difference. So, I’m very happy for the club, for the fans and players as well and thank my, staff, South African staff for this title and I would like to dedicate this victory to the coach of the goalkeeper Tyrone who has been in accident and is watching us at home.

“Thapelo as well my player, and I don’t forget Kabunda the team manager we’ve been in the accident two weeks ago so I thank God for this title.

“So, maybe we could not if God was not there we could’ve passed away because it was very dangerous. So, I’m very today to just celebrate with the fans and my players and all the lovers of football in South Africa.”
