The former South Africa international was in charge of the Rockets against Yanga SC on Wednesday.
South African legend Bernard Parker is keen on fast-tracking Ts Galaxy junior players to the first team.
The former Kaizer Chiefs attacker retired from active football at the end of last season and was eventually confirmed as the reserve team's head coach. However, on Wednesday, in the absence of Sead Ramovic Parker was in the dugout as the Rockets lost by a solitary goal against Yanga SC in the Mpumalanga International Premier's Cup.
Parker has a Caf C license and is still working his way up through the coaching courses usually organized by Safa.
But what is his role in the senior team?
“It’s very important for me to be involved with the first team and also be the head coach [of the reserve team],” Parker said as quoted by Far Post.
“The reason why is that you have to prepare the players to be ready for the first team. And for that, we have to work together with the first team coaches and get good guidance and confidence from them to build good relationships and work with each other.
“I know that I won’t disappoint them in terms of handing over finished products to the first team. It’s very important that everything we do in the first team, we do with the [reserve] side. This is to make sure that once a player makes a transition from the reserve team into the first team, he just continues with the club’s system and spark,” he continued.
“It is also very important for me to make sure that I learn as much as I can with the first team so that I can make it easier for me to apply what I have gained in the first team to the [reserve] team.”
Parker has a good relationship with Sukazi and it will not be a surprise to see him deputising Sead Ramovic once he gets his Caf B license.
