Pirates coach Ouaddou unhappy despite win over Polokwane – ‘We have to put teams in right conditions to play’

Orlando Pirates strained to a 2-1 win over Polokwane City on Wednesday night at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The Sea Robbers opened the scoring in the 52nd minute courtesy of Relebohile Mofokeng, before Bonginkosi Dlamini responded in the 86th minute. However, the visitors got their winner in the 90th minute courtesy of Patrick Maswanganyi, who has now scored six goals for the club this term.

It was a reliefe for the Soweto giants who had 14 shots on target, but failed to be clinical despite having quality players on the pitch.

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was happy with the way his players expressed themselves against Rise and shine. Nevertheless, the former Morocco international was unhappy with the condition of the playing surface since it made it tough for the players to freely express themselves.

“Let’s congratulate the boys, it’s not easy to win in Polokwane. We know it’s a strong team, very compact, they’re playing with braveness and the pitch didn’t help us today,” Ouaddou stated.

“In that case sometimes I don’t understand… we have a magnificent stadium next to this stadium, and it’s the image of the PSL, because PSL is the best league in Africa.

“I think we have to put the teams in the right conditions to play. But coming back to the game, we were very brave, we wanted to score but unfortunately we didn’t. But we created so many chances. I will say well done boys,” he continued.

The next Premier Soccer League game for Pirates will be on Wednesday, March 11 against Richards Bay.
