AFCON: ‘Pirates score, Downs concede but SA are doing better without Chiefs players’

Published on by

Bafana Bafana laboured to a 3-2 win over Zimbabwe in a tough Group B assignment played at the Marrakesh Stadium in Morocco.

Having collected three points from their initial two games in the pool, South Africa needed just a point to advance while the Warriors, who had managed to collect just one point from the previous outings, needed a win.

However, it was Hugo Broos’ men who delivered despite a hard fight from their COSAFA rivals. These are the reactions from the fans as collected by Afrik-Foot.

Zimbabwe only think of football when playing Bafana Bafana

Bafana Bafana were very lucky. Ivory Coast or Cameroon will give them a cricket score in the knockout stages –  Asii Xosa

Zimbabweans only think about playing football when they play against Bafana Bafana. Well played, Zimbabwe – Karabo Releasee Sebopa

The Warriors have taken the lead. South Africa’s Bafana Bafana will join them soon! Just a matter of days – Bismark KD

Aubrey Modiba is the first player in history to score an own goal and ask Mr. Ref to check VAR if he was not offside – Mnqobi Zamani

Coach should start Teboho Mokoena, Thalente Mbatha, and Sipho Mbule. They play in the same league, the link-up is better than that of Sithole, and it’s difficult for them to master the midfield. Relebohile Mofokeng and Shandre Campbell, it’s their time. Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi should come on in the second half of the next game. That would be a great tactical plan – Vechter M Jnr

Foster has been terrible

Lyle Foster has really been an important player in this tournament. Two goals and two assists in just three games –  Adereti Adesoji

I need to see the Bafana Bafana game that was played against Egypt last week again, please.   We were just lucky against Zimbabwe. The performance was really poor – Lelo Mkhondo

Orlando Pirates score, Mamelodi Sundowns concede, but Bafana Bafana are doing better without Kaizer Chiefs players – King Sono

Truthfully speaking, Siyabonga Ngezana was not playing well when he was with us, Kaizer Chiefs. But since moving to a different club and league, it looks like he has improved a lot. Every time he plays for Bafana Bafana, you can tell there is experience now – Kutlwano

Anybody who watches football knows that Foster has been terrible on the field for Bafana, but you have to understand why he’s there based on the return of goal contributions – City Dyan
