Replacement for Tito and Rele? Pirates starlet backed for No.10 role

With Patrick Maswanganyi reportedly on his way out of Orlando Pirates, the Premier Soccer League champions find themselves facing a mini-crisis in the number 10 role.

Maswanganyi is reported to have agreed to join a club in Bahrain, as per SABC Sport, and with Relebohile Mofokeng having also departed for Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise this summer, Pirates do not have many options for the creative role.

However, club legend Moeneeb Josephs feels there is no need to panic, or even look elsewhere, as the solution is right there.

The former Pirates goalkeeper is backing youngster Cemran Dansin to fill that void, having been impressed by the 21-year-old’s ‘audition’ during the Buccaneers’ 1-0 win over Sekhukhune United in the MTN8 semi-final first leg on Saturday.

“I think you can give that boy any role. Tell him now to be the linesman and he is going to do that to the best of his ability,” Josephs said on Soccer Beat, while reviewing Dansin’s performance.

“That is the type of quality player that we have, a good attitude boy. You can throw him anywhere and he is going to give you 100% anywhere.”

Why Josephs has faith in Dansin

Josephs was impressed by what he saw from Dansin, who came on in the 46^th minute for Simphiwe Masilela, and feels he has all the attributes to thrive behind the striker.

“They put him on and played him as number 10 and he started to look immediately like…you can see he wants to learn about this role which I like,” he added.

“There was a time where he got drifted back into the eight position again but they told him go a little bit higher so still a young boy but what I love about him is that he is open to learn and that is important. A player like that is always quality to have on your team.”

It remains to be seen how coach Abdeslam Ouaddou will shuffle his pack given the number 10 role is vital to creating chances and also scoring goals for his team.
