Pitso Mosimane makes big prediction about Kaizer Chiefs

Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes Kaizer Chefs are not far away from challenging his ex-team and Orlando Pirates for the PSL title.

Mosimane feels Bafana Bafana has benefited greatly from the quality of players at both Pirates and Sundowns who have dictated the style of play of the national team under coach Hugo Broos.

This is down to the fact that Pirates and Sundowns players form the bulk of the national team squad but he feels Chiefs will soon join them as they are on a good trajectory.

“The style of play of Bafana is exactly what you see at Pirates, what you see at Sundowns. It benefits the national team,” Mosimane said when he attended La Liga’s celebration of its 10th anniversary in Africa.

“The coach doesn’t have to do much, the style is there, it’s embedded from Pirates, from Sundowns.”

While Chiefs players have been missing out on Bafana Bafana call-ups despite a number of them impressing at club level, Mosimane feels Broos will not ignore them for long as the club is on an upward trajectory.

“I think Chiefs will follow very soon, and then we are winning. That’s where you say national pride from the clubs,” he added.

Mosimane is among those thrilled by the work done by Broos so far after the Belgian tactician guided South Africa to third place at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, qualification to the 2025 tournament as well as the 2026 World Cup.

“The issue is, can we keep it there? Let’s avoid the deep. What must we do to avoid it? Staying there for a long time, it’s cold at the top, but we can,” he added, stressing the need to stay consistent and maintain the high standards.
