The 2025/26 Betway Premiership season is set to kick off for Kaizer Chiefs with a challenging away trip to Stellenbosch FC. The PSL has confirmed that the match will now take place at Athlone Stadium on Sunday, August 10, at 17:30, a change from the originally scheduled DHL Stadium.
This marks Amakhosi's first competitive fixture of the season, a result of their ninth-place finish last season, which saw them miss out on the MTN8.
Under the guidance of coach Nasreddine Nabi, who is now in his second season, the Soweto giants are under immense pressure to improve.
A turbulent first season saw the club fail to secure a top-eight finish, a disappointment they are determined to rectify.

CHIEFS’ NEW SIGNINGS THIS SEASON
To that end, Chiefs' pre-season included a tour of the Netherlands and a busy transfer window that saw the arrival of new players like Flavio Silva, Ethan Chislett, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Paseka Mako, and Thabiso Monyane.
These reinforcements are a clear signal of the club's intent to climb the league table. However, they face a confident Stellenbosch side that has already found its rhythm.
The Winelands-based team advanced to the MTN8 semi-finals with a thrilling 3-2 win against AmaZulu FC and will be high on confidence.
While Chiefs will be looking to build on their home-and-away victories over Stellies from last season, they will need to be wary of their opponents' current form.
The task is made even more difficult by the absence of Pule Mmodi, who is suspended after a red card from the previous season. This match promises to be a true test of Chiefs' readiness for the new campaign.
