‘Ref was given brown envelope on field! Nabi was cooking but Bafana’s Ntseki is burning everything in CHAN’

Bafana Bafana threw away a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 with co-hosts Uganda in Group C's CHAN to bow out of the biennial competition.

With the regulation time done, the officials awarded what looked like soft penalties, which Cranes converted to advance alongside Algeria. However, for South Africa, it is the end of the journey.

These are the reactions following the result on Monday evening at the Mandela Stadium in Kampala, Uganda.

You play with the hands and blame the referee?

The referee was given a brown envelope on the field of play. Winning with two sketchy penalties at home is a joke –  Tlapeng Tabane

You guys are playing with the hands, and then after you blame the referee for doing his job? Sorry, this is football, not rugby –  Manza Amsogood

At least Nasreddine Nabi was cooking; Molefi Ntseki is burning everything – Nonhlanhla Dube

I wonder how Ugandan fans who left the stadium after a 3-1 score felt when they reached home and found that they equalized in the last five minutes – Dithapelo Tsabo Legodi

Uganda sent packing to where, meanwhile, South Africans will always find someone to blame – Esther Isaac

Where is our Abongile Tom?

Abongile Tom

The most tense game I've ever watched. Meat was taken right from Bafana Bafana's jaws – Ogwago The-Gwags

At least Orlando Pirates will lose their next game, and the country's spirit will be lifted a little bit –  Kha Yaa

They were laughing at Nigeria when they couldn't qualify. We meet in September, sweethearts – Winifred Chioma

This VAR referee needs to be checked. Where is our Abongile Tom – Ringo Dx Ringo

I am a Ugandan, but I am here to congratulate South Africa on a wonderful display. It was VAR that assisted us, but all the efforts were yours. Congratulations brothers – Waibi Ivan
