Kaizer Chiefs failed to win the annual Toyota Cup following their defeat to Ghanaian top-tier side Asante Kotoko at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The two nations played to a goalless draw in regulation time, before the Porcupine Warriors claimed a 3-2 win in the penalty shootout. Last season, Young Africans SC of Tanzania defeated the Glamour Boys 4-0 to be crowned.
