REVEALED: How much Scottland paid ex-Chiefs attacker Billiat

Scottland FC confirmed the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs attacker Khama Billiat.

After the 34-year-old's struggles in the Premier Soccer League with the Glamour Boys, the versatile midfielder was given a lifeline by Yadah FC. The Zimbabwe top-tier side paid Billiat R95,500 per month, making him the highest-paid footballer in the country.

The club had further paid the player R378,000 as a sign-on fee. Billiat had a good campaign, where he scored 13 goals – just four less than the Golden Boot winner, and 11 assists to help his team finish 11th after promotion.

His form convinced the Zimbabwe national team's technical team to ask him to consider reversing his decision to retire. It was a good move as Billiat played a crucial role in helping the team qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to be played in Morocco at the end of the year.

His exploits caught the attention of other top-tier newbies Scottland who did not hesitate to convince Billiat to join them.

FarPost have now revealed how much Billiat received as a sign-on fee from his new team, “Billiat’s signing-on fee is believed to be a hefty US$40 000 [roughly R748 000), but the exact details of his monthly earnings remain shrouded in secrecy.

“This signing-on fee sets a new record for the highest amount paid by a Zimbabwean club to a footballer. Without a doubt, he will be among the highest-paid players on the team judging by his profile. How he will fare at the club remains to be seen.”

Billiat joins Walter Musona who won the 2024 Player of the Season Award.
