Richards Bay coach gives ‘honest opinion’ about struggling Chiefs

Richards Bay FC co-coach Papi Zothwane has given his “honest opinion” about the struggling side of Nasreddine Nabi.

Chiefs have lost nine games in 22 matches in the Betway Premiership, leaving them eighth position with 29 points.

The Natal Rich Boyz downed the Phefeni Glamour Boys 2-0 at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Asked if this was the weakest Chiefs side he'd faced as a player and coach, Zothwane suggested they are simply in a difficult period, similar to what other teams like Orlando Pirates have experienced.

He believes Chiefs possess quality players but have been unlucky recently.

‘I THINK THEY HAVE GOT QUALITY’

“No, I don't think [this is the most vulnerable Chiefs we’ve ever seen], personally for me, that’s my observation and opinion, maybe I might be wrong,” said Zothwane as quoted by FARPost.

“I think Chiefs have got good players, they have got good players. It’s just that maybe it's a phase and a patch that things are not happening.

“They have got good personnel. Sometimes it's just that things are not happening. It has happened to many other teams as well like [Orlando] Pirates.

“So, maybe now that’s what is happening to them. But I think in terms of quality, I think they have got quality. It’s just that things aren’t happening the way they want.”
