Richards Bay wary of wounded Kaizer Chiefs ahead of PSL date

Kaizer Chiefs will be away at uMhlathuze Stadium to play Richards Bay in the Premier Soccer League outing.

Both teams come into the fixture desperate for a win as they work on meeting their respective targets for the season. However, it is Amakhosi who are under intense pressure to deliver after losing their last three games across all competitions. As a matter of fact, they have lost four in the recent five outings.

The latest defeat was on Saturday when the Glamour Boys fell 3-0 to Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby that was staged at the FNB Stadium. It was Chiefs’ worst win, in the fixture, in the last 25 years.

Richards Bay coach Papi Zothwane is anticipating a tough assignment against the Soweto giants.

The Natal Rich Boys want to win

“One we are playing against a very big team that has just lost two games in a row, and obviously they want to bounce back, but they can’t bounce back at our expense,” Zothwane told the media.

“The last time we won at home was against AmaZulu in December, so we want to win. We’re expecting a very difficult match, not knowing who they are going to play because of their last performance against Pirates, but we are ready,” he added.

“The players are ready because they know what is expected – we are on 20 points and we want to go to 23 points, so yeah, it’s going to be a tough match but, as a team, we are all ready for the match.

“Preparation for Chiefs is not one of the best because yesterday it was for travelling and today it’s only recovery, and tomorrow we are playing the match,” he concluded.
