Riveiro – ‘It’s a normal thing’ if you’re Pirates coach

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has revealed what he feels should be a “normal thing” for the Buccaneers coach.

Speaking ahead of their CAF Champions League clash against Stade d'Abidjan, Riveiro highlighted the importance of competing at the highest level.

The Buccaneers drew 1-1 away to the Ivorian side, maintaining their unbeaten run in the group stage.

Riveiro emphasised that a Pirates coach should expect the team to be a title contender, regardless of the competition.

He views this as a normal expectation for a club with the stature of Orlando Pirates.

RIVEIRO SAYS PIRATES IS A TITLE CONTENDER FOR ALL TROPHIES

“The title was a long time ago, we played a final in 2013, but as I said many times, we are making our first steps in this difficult competition together as a group, with experienced players in the Champions League and experienced coaches as well,” said Riveiro.

“So we’re exploiting a new space and at the same time trying to be very competitive as we are, competing in the league with good teams, the one you mentioned is one of them.

“Luckily for us, this season in Champions League as well, it’s a normal thing when you are in a club like Pirates and you have the opportunity to be a title contender in whichever competition you play.”
