Sead Ramovic throws another jibe at Rulani Mokwena

TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic has thrown yet another jibe at former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena.

The rivalry between Mokwena and Ramovic, who traded barbs throughout the previous season, shows no signs of abating.

While Mokwena has been quiet, Ramovic has been particularly vocal in his criticism of the newly appointed Wydad Casablanca coach.

Last week, when he responded to his links with Raja Casablanca, Ramovic jokingly remarked that he wouldn't leave because he didn't want to cause the same outpouring of grief witnessed with Mokwena's departure.

Mokwena, after he abruptly left Sundowns, had said his sudden departure caused significant sadness in the team and fans, even bringing some to tears.

Now, speaking during the MTN8 launch in Auckland Park on Thursday, Ramovic indirectly threw another jibe at Mokwena by saying the PSL Coach of the Season award should have been bestowed upon Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker.

Mokwena received the award at the end of the season after guiding Masandawana to their seventh consecutive league title.

“Of course, it’s a beautiful opportunity to be in the top eight, it will be great to play against a great team,” said Ramovic

“Against them, it’s always tough games.

“I can say that the coach of the opponents, last season should have been the coach of the season because what he did was just amazing.”

Ramovic and Mokwena would have faced off again in the dugouts in Morocco this upcoming season had the German coach's move to Raja Casablanca been successful. However, he rejected the move after the club forced him to come alone.

Afrik-Foot understands Raja wanted Ramovic to come alone while he wanted to bring his backroom staff including his assistant coach Adnan Beganovic and goalkeeper coach Greg Etafia.

Ramovic will lead the Rockects when they take on Stellies in the MTN8 quarterfinal on Sunday, 4 August at 3pm at the Danie Craven Stadium.
