Orlando Pirates teenager Mohau Nkota is seemingly the next big thing in South African football if recent exploits are anything to consider.
The 18-year-old marked his Premier Soccer League start on a high note, scoring a brace in the 2-1 win against AmaZulu just last month.
His exploits have been impressive across all competitions regardless of the opponent he is playing against. The combination between him and another youngster – Relebohile Mofokeng, has been incredible.
However, coach Jose Riveiro played a huge role in helping the teenager to have an immediate impact on his team as revealed by Bafana Bafana international Thabiso Sesane, another Bucs Academy graduate.
‘I told Nkota not to be scared' – Sesane
“What I can say is that there are no youngsters when it comes to the coach,” Sesane opened up in his interview with iDiski Times.
“He treats us all equally, especially in that Tuesday game. I heard him say something and I said he had never said this to me. He told Nkota in the changing- room that, ‘Remember, Nkota, this is not the MDC you have to be strong my boy!’ He said you are on a different level now and you need to prove yourself.
“So, I went to him before the game, and I told him to not take what the coach said in a negative way. I also told him to not be scared to lose the ball, and that if he lost it, we would mark it for him and give it back to him.”
Pirates resume their club duties after the international break with a tricky Caf Champions League fixture in Algeria against CR Belouizdad.
