Kaizer Chiefs beat ZESCO United on Sunday in Group D of the CAF Confederation Cup that was staged at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
The Democratic Republic of Congo winger Glody Lilepo scored the only goal of the match to help the Glamour Boys claim maximum points. It was his second goal in as many games across all competitions, having also won the club a vital win in the Premier Soccer League outing against Marumo Gallants a couple of days ago.

However, the club’s graduate Mduduzi Shabalala reached a milestone for the club. It was the 22-year-old’s 100th appearance since making his debut in 2022 against a now-defunct Moroka Swallows.
In those outings, the versatile midfielder has scored 11 goals and registered six assists in the process.
Shabalala delighted with achievement
The creative midfielder is happy that he has managed to hit a century of games for his club, insisting it is a realised dream.
“It means a lot to me, because it was a dream also to me to play for this club when I was young. And I’m happy that the club has given me an opportunity to showcase my talent even though it hasn’t been easy but I’m happy for the opportunity,” he told the media.

Chiefs are chasing the Premier Soccer League, Nedbank Cup and CAF Confederation Cup glory. The Bafana Bafana star has opened up on the competitions and what is expected of them.
“To us as Chiefs players, we take one game at a time, we don’t focus on what competitions are left,” added Shabalala.
“We take each game as important, do our best. We hope that when the season ends, we can take one thing,” Shabalala concluded.
