Kaizer Chiefs' senior team has faced a challenging period, enduring a trophy drought since their MTN8 and Absa Premiership triumphs under Stuart Baxter in the 2014/15 season.
This season, Nasreddine Nabi and his technical team were appointed with the clear mandate to restore the glory days to Naturena, but the team has experienced an inconsistent run as they seek to improve their form.
Amidst this backdrop, Chiefs DDC assistant coach Dillon Sheppard commented on the potential influence of the reserve team winning the DStv Diski Challenge.
Asked at the DDC Roundtable in Durban if a title win would encourage the senior side, Sheppard admitted that it would indeed have a positive impact on Nabi's team.

SHEPPARD HOPING THAT DDC VICTORY FOR CHIEFS WILL HELP SENIOR TEAM
“It would be huge to win the DDC after ten years [of its establishment], if it contributes and helps towards the first team, that would be great,” said Sheppard as quoted by FARPost.
“Remember, we all represent the club. So we are going to push to win and hopefully that has a little bit of an influence in the first team.”
The Chiefs DDC side has accumulated 61 points from 25 matches to date and is currently at the top of the league standings, also holding a game in hand.
