Mamelodi Sundowns new signing Nuno Santos has termed his first taste of the PSL as a physical but exciting challenge, even though he was welcomed by a loss.
Santos became Sundowns’ third signing when he was unveiled on deadline day on Monday and by Wednesday, he was thrown into the fray by coach Miguel Cardoso as the Brazilians lost 1-0 to Golden Arrows.
The 26-year-old midfielder was introduced in the second half after Sundowns had gone 1-0 down following Junior Dion’s 30th minute header but he could not do much as the PSL champions struggled to get into the final third.
Mixed feelings for Downs’ new signing
“Mixed up feelings because I wanted to start with a win and unfortunately, we could not do it but at the same time I am very happy with my debut here,” Santos said as posted on the club’s social media accounts.
“Very proud of the team. We tried in the 90 minutes to get the three points. We could not do it sadly but we go again next game.
“Very physical game and emotional game as well. Moments of the game where the team played very well and very happy,” he added regarding his PSL debut.

The Portuguese playmaker believes Sundowns fans will be excited by what he brings as he is a selfless player who likes to create chances for others.
“I am a guy that gives it all, quality, and always tries to assist my players as a collective. Always thinking about the team and never about me and that is it,” he added.
“I felt huge support from the fans. Obviously, very different from Portugal, but very good at the same time. Everybody made it easier, not just fans but the team. The way they welcomed me, I feel very good here and I hope to give joy to the team and fans.”
Santos was signed by Sundowns from Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes for a reported R20 million.
