Mamelodi Sundowns are said to be nearing an agreement to secure the future of Bafana Bafana defender Mothobi Mvala, who is anticipated to sign a new contract.

It seems that Masandawana have engaged in discussions with the seasoned defender for an extended period, as he has been with the club for four years.

According to Soccer Laduma, both parties are happy with the terms of the new three-year contract, which includes an option to extend. The deal is set to be finalised soon.

SUNDOWNS SET TO FINALISE NEW CONTRACT WITH MOTHOBI MVALA

“When we spoke before, that time it was a proposal from the club and the talks were ongoing. They have been going on for some time now and for now it's believed that the deal is as good as done. Mvala is set to remain at the team for the next three years plus a one-year option. Which means, he could be at the club until June 2029,” Soccer Laduma source said.

“They are working differently from most South African clubs. Even when it seems like they haven't sealed the deal they know they are safe with their players because they open talks a long time before the current contract expires. So, as for Mvala, the new deal is as good as done.”

Mvala has recently made his comeback following a long-term injury that caused him to miss some matches at the conclusion of the previous season and the initial phase of the current one.

His presence has significantly enhanced the defensive stability of Mandawana who struggled in that area.
