Sundowns Transfer News: Masandawana confirm five exits

Published on by

Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns have started restructuring ahead of the new season.

In the 2024/25 edition, Masandawana struggled for stability, especially in the technical team. Rulani Mokwena was let go before the start of the campaign, before Manqoba Mngqithi took over as the main man.

However, he struggled for stability domestically and abroad; the now Golden Arrows head coach fell against Stellenbosch in the MTN8 semi-final and started the Caf Champions League edition on a low note. It was under his watch that the club suffered its first league loss against Polokwane City, prompting the management to make changes.

In his debut season in Mzansi, coach Miguel Cardoso helped the Brazilians to successfully defend their league title and reached the final of the Caf Champions League, but lost to Pyramids. Sundowns were also part of the 32 teams that played in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup, but despite their impressive showing, they couldn't get past the group stage.

Who have Sundowns released?

Apart from the PSL, Sundowns are aiming at making a statement domestically by being a factor in the MTN8, Nedbank Cup, and Carling Knockout. In the concluded campaign, they reached the final of the Carling Knockout but suffered a shock loss against Magesi FC.

Cardoso's men then fell against eventual champions Kaizer Chiefs in the last four of the Nedbank Cup.

In the international scene, Masandawana are expected to challenge for the Caf Champions League and most probably the African Football League. It explains the changes that the team has made in the playing unit.

On Monday, Sudnowns announced the departures of Thabang Sibanyoni, Sifiso Ngobeni, and Sanele Tshabalala. They have also thanked Sipho Mbule, who left after his contract expired, as well as Lucas Suarez whose loan deal from CA Talleres concluded.

It is interesting who the club will bring on board to help them achieve their targets in the new season.
