Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau is reportedly close to agreeing a deal to return to Egypt just six months after leaving the country.
Tau is currently a free agent after leaving Qatar SC last month following the end of his short-term deal.
The Bafana Bafana winger had signed a six-month contract with the option to extend for two more years but that was pegged on his performances.
Which team is interested in Percy Tau?
When he managed four assists in nine games, however, the club decided to cut ties after he had joined them in January from Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Now, latest reports claim Al Ahly’s bitter rivals Zamalek are close to signing Tau, which could see him make a sensational return to Cairo.
As per Egyptian outlet MBC Egypt, Tau and Zamalek are close to reaching an agreement over a deal with the Egyptian giants having revived their interest in the former Mamelodi Sundowns winger.
Zamalek were reported in May to be looking to sign Tau but were reportedly put off by his ‘high salary demands’ and it is now a surprise that they have come back in for him again.
Lion of Judah could become Al Ahly’s top enemy

Tau had last month expressed a desire to join any team, including a PSL side, as long as his financial demands were met, and it remains to be seen where he will end up next.
Signing for Zamalek would make him an enemy of Al Ahly despite his three-and-a-half years at the club when he played 126 matches, scoring 30 goals and providing 14 assists, as well as winning three league titles and a couple of CAF Champions League crowns.
The 31-year-old is looking to find a club that can guarantee him gametime to stay in contention for selection to the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and potentially 2026 World Cup.
