Thabiso Sesane on Happy Jele – ‘He’s like a father to me’

Orlando Pirates centre-back Thabiso Sesane has revealed the significant role that club legend Happy Jele has played in his development since his promotion from the academy.

Sesane's impressive performances for Orlando Pirates last season earned him a regular spot in Jose Riveiro's starting lineup.

He has continued his strong form into the current season, capturing the hearts of Pirates fans.

Sesane recalls that the former Buccaneers player Jele was present during his time in the junior teams at Pirates, advising him to uphold his playing style.

Following Sesane's two significant errors against Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout Cup, Jele was the first to offer consolation and support.

HAPPY JELE’S ROLE ON SESANE’S CAREER

“He is someone I have always looked up to in the team,” said Sesane in an interview with iDiski Times.

“So the day he saw me playing in the development he came to me and told me to continue playing the way I have been.

“We started talking and I played with him. We started talking a lot and even now we are still talking even after the Magesi game, he was the first person to call me and told me to chin up and things like that because he is a person who sort of raised me in the game. He is like a father to me.”
