Tripple boost for Chiefs ahead of tough CAF CC outing against Zamalek

Kaizer Chiefs are set for another CAF Confederation Cup outing on Saturday when they host Zamalek in a Group D fixture.

The Glamour Boys are third in the pool with no point, while leaders Al Masry have six after back-to-back wins. The White Knight are second with three points collected on matchday one.

Amakhosi are aware they have to win the game at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane for them to stand a chance of advancing.

It will be a massive relief which will reduce the pressure on the players and the technical team as well.

The Soweto giants requested their Premier Soccer League game against Magesi to be postponed which gave the playing unit ample time to prepare for the game against the 2023/24 champions.

Chiefs set to welcome three for the Zamalek test

Amakhosi have been boosted with a return of three players who missed the defeat against Al Masry.

Gaston Sirino, who was suspended for the fixture, is back in contention and ready to help his team. Wandile Duba and Khanyisa Mayo were ruled out due to injuries, but the duo is back and has been training with the other players. However, as confirmed by the coach, Glody Lilepo and Aden McCarthy will be joining long-term absentees Rushwin Dortley and Fiacre Ntwari on the sidelines.

“As you can see for example Khanyisa Mayo is available for selection after spending a few weeks out of the field,” co-coach Cedric Kaze updated in the pre-match interview.

“Gaston Sirino is back as well from suspension.

“But there are players that have been like Dortley and Fiacre they are out for this game and as well as Glody Lilepo and Aden McCarthy have not recovered yet from their injuries for this game, but the rest of the players are available for selection,” he concluded.
