Asanele Velebayi is among the 11 players that Kaizer Chiefs signed for the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League season.
The 22-year-old winger has since played four games across all competitions for the Glamour Boys – two in the Premier Soccer League and as many times in the CAF Confederation Cup.
After his contested move from the Cape Town Spurs, the winger has shared his progress at the club. He is happy with what he is doing and promised more as Chiefs continue their chase for titles.
Amakhosi, who will play TS Galaxy in the Premier Soccer League, are among the teams hoping to claim the South African top-tier this season. The Soweto giants will also be working on successfully defending their Nedbank Cup as well as make an impact in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Velebayi delighted with the progress at Amakhosi
“Obviously, being a new player at Kaizer Chiefs, I don’t want to say there is pressure, but it’s about adapting every day, learning every day because this is a big brand,” Velebayi told the media.
“For me personally, I’m taking it game by game, my confidence is slowly building up as compared to when I made my debut, when I was a little bit nervous. So it’s learning every day, adapting.
“The more I get the minutes, the more I get the confidence. So, I just say I’m adapting very good at the club,” he added.
Hungry Velebayi ready for Rockets’ duel
“Dropping points always drives you to push for maximum points in the next game. You don’t want to drop points, you always want to get three every game. So, dropping points gives you the hunger, the drive to make sure you go all out in the next game,” Velebayi said referring to the recent 0-0 draw with Chippa United.
“I have been watching [TS Galaxy] closely; they are in a pretty decent form, so going into that game, I know for sure that it’s going to be intense. We will be looking to go all out.
“We just need the right mindset from everyone who will be playing. They have been in good form and we don’t take it lightly. It’s going to be a tough game,” he concluded.
