WATCH: Furious Sundowns fans tell Cardoso it’s over with ‘Pitso’ chants

Mamelodi Sundowns were in action on Friday night at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in the CAF Champions League Group C outing.

They came into the fixture against Al-Hilal Omdurman as favourites owing to the quality within their squad. However, the game eventually ended 2-2 despite the many chances the hosts created.

The result left Masandawana top of their pool with five points, the same as the Blue Wave who have managed the same, but with an inferior goal differenc,e. The other two group members – St Eloi Lupopo and Rulani Mokwena’s MC Alger, have managed a point each from two games played.

Fans unhappy with Cardoso

After the final whistle, Mamelodi Sundowns fans publicly expressed their anger and frustration against the technical team led by coach Miguel Cardoso.

They shouted Pitso Mosimane’s name for a couple of minutes, hoping the management will get their message and send the former Esperance tactician home.

After the 2–2 draw with Al Hilal, the story didn’t end at the final whistle.

From the stands, Sundowns supporters were loudly calling out a familiar name — “Pitso! Pitso! Pitso!”

The Mosimane-Sundowns rumours

Talks between Mamelodi Sundowns and former coach Pitso Mosimane are underway, though negotiations are not yet as advanced as some reports suggest, with key details still unresolved.

In December, reports emerged that both parties were open to repairing relations, sparking speculation of a sensational return to Chloorkop. The Brazilians have since identified Mosimane, a serial trophy-winning coach and the club’s most successful manager, as a serious candidate.

According to KickOff.com, sources close to the talks confirm that contact has been made, but while one insider believes progress is being made, another cautions that negotiations remain complex.
