Pitso Mosimane’s rumoured talks with Mamelodi Sundowns are reported to have been smothered by the removal of one key stumbling block.
Mosimane has been reported to be in discussions with the PSL champions over returning to Chloorkop in the coming months but a number of issues remained unresolved.
One of them was a payment dispute that saw both sides head to court before Mosimane was ordered to pay Sundowns nearly R8 million.

The court ordered Mosimane to pay R7,912,905 in agent commission fees, plus 7% annual interest calculated from May 10, 2021, until the payment is settled after Sundowns initiated the case to reclaim a portion of the agent’s commission paid to MT Sports, the tactician’s management company, after he departed for Al Ahly in 2020, just four months into a new four-year contract with the Brazilians.
Will Mosimane work with Berg?
However, according to KickOff, Mosimane and Sundowns have been working behind the scenes to resolve this issue, paving the way for a potential reunion.

But while that was a major stumbling block, it has also been reported that the 61-year-old appears not comfortable working with Sporting Director Flemming Berg who is the man tasked with transfer business at the club.
But as per SoccerBeat, who broke the news of Mosimane’s potential return to Sundowns, the two parties have also worked on this issue with the veteran coach leaning towards an agreement.
“The stumbling block to the deal could be that Pitso Mosimane doesn’t want to report to Sporting Director Flemming Berg but the latest we are hearing is that the return might be closer than we think,” the outlet said.
Sundowns legend over the moon
It remains to be seen if the reports are true but the news has excited Sundowns fans and ex-players who feel their former coach could bring success at the club while also playing an attractive style of football unlike what is being witnessed under current tactician Miguel Cardoso.
“Just music to my ears because we all know what Pitso brings to Sundowns. Pitso is Sundowns DNA, he knows Sundowns in and out and brought the glory to Sundowns,” ex-Sundowns midfielder Manqoba “Shakes” Ngwenya said on SoccerBeat.
“He brought that star to Sundowns and all those league titles but things have not been running smooth with Sundowns lately. The faithful not happy with the style of play even though we are grinding results. We are used to the shoe shine and piano. It is not enough to win, you have to win in style,” he added.
