Kaizer Chiefs co-head coach Cedric Kaze has acknowledged the frustrations of the club’s supporters but has urged them to continue backing the team during this challenging period.
Following a string of four consecutive losses across all competitions, some Amakhosi fans had called for a boycott of the team’s matches. However, Chiefs managed to halt their losing streak with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Durban City in a Premier Soccer League clash at FNB Stadium on Sunday.
The win, secured by a Glody Lilepo strike, lifted the Soweto giants to fifth place on the league table.
Kaze sends message to Kaizer Chiefs fans

“My message to them is that we are not sleeping,” Kaze stated after the match as per Citizen. “We know the frustrations and we know they deserve better. The best way to support your team, even in these difficult moments, is to try to come to the stadium. We know when the fans are behind us it is like a 12th man and we feel more energy.”
Kaze also confessed to some nervy moments as his team battled to protect their narrow lead in the final minutes of the game. Durban City mounted a late offensive, creating several chances from corners and long throws that nearly resulted in an equaliser.
“I am a young man but I believe if that happens at another time, I could have a heart attack!” Kaze remarked. “We need to take care of the ball better and understand which part of the field we are in and what time of the game we are in. These are things we are going to continue to work on and improve.”

Looking ahead, Chiefs are set to face Magesi FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, with the team aiming for another three points before the upcoming international break.
“We have an important game against Magesi… all the focus needs to be on that game,” Kaze added.
“We had a couple of difficult weeks and the only thing we can do is to try to improve every day and get the right message to the players to train as well as they can. Then we can go into Saturday’s game and I believe everything else will fall into line.”
