Orlando Pirates fans have been asking about the whereabouts of versatile attacker Monnapule Saleng.
The 26-year-old had a relatively great start to the ongoing 2024/25 campaign, scoring five goals and providing an assist in the 13 matches played across all competitions. However, his last appearance was way back against Al Ahly in the Caf Champions League game played at the Orlando Stadium.
Bucs have not explained why Saleng is out of action despite his quality. The Soweto giants are chasing the Premier Soccer League title, Caf Champions League, and the Nedbank Cup. It explains why a player like Saleng is needed by the technical team and his teammates.
When asked about Saleng, Riveiro refused to explain why he has not been involved in recent matches.
Not my job description to speak about Saleng – Riveiro

“I don’t speak about the health of my players, it’s something that belongs in the private space,” the Spaniard responded when asked about Saleng.
“The moment that the club feels it’s the time to speak about which players are injured, how long it’s going to take, which step of the process, they do it.
“It’s not in my job description to – like I said – it’s not an ethic thing. I know it would be nice to know how close is Olisa [Ndah] or [Goodman] Mosele and what’s happening with Saleng but it’s not gonna happen [here].”
Orlando Pirates will continue their Nedbank Cup title defense on Saturday with a visit of Baroka FC at the Orlando Stadium in the Round of 16. The winner will advance to the quarter-final.
