A massive warning to Maswanganyi, Mbule & Mofokeng! Ouaddou opens up on De Jong role

Andre de Jong is among the new faces introduced to the Orlando Pirates squad by coach Abdeslam Ouaddou in the January transfer window.

The New Zealand international came into the match to strengthen the already impressive midfield department boasting international experience brought about by the likes of Sipho Mbule, RelebohileMofokeng, Patrick Maswanganyi, among others.

While some were questioning the logic behind De Jong’s signing when the Buccaneers have enough depth in the department, coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has justified the introduction of the towering and versatile midfielder.

What is De Jong bringing to the club?

The former Morocco international believes the 29-year-old will bring much needed intelligence in the final third. This is in the wake of the recent goalless draw with Sekhukhune United in the Premier Soccer League fixture staged at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Bucs had 17 shots on target but couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net, much to the frustrations of the fans.

“Speaking about Andre, I think he’s a player that can bring us his intelligence, playing between the lines,” Ouaddou responded to the media in a presser.

“He’s very clever and of course, to use all this capacity for finishing as well, he’s a number ten, but he can get in the box to finish. He has international experience, he has big experience in the PSL, and I’m sure he’s the kind of player who can help us,” he concluded.
