The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 continues with a thrilling Day 6 lineup featuring four crucial fixtures across Groups C and D. With knockout-stage hopes hanging in the balance, teams will be fighting for vital points to keep their campaigns alive.

Benin vs Botswana | Kick-off: 14:30 CAT

Two nations still searching for their first win at AFCON 2025 lock horns at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah Olympique Annexe in Rabat.

Benin, beaten by DR Congo in their opener, are winless in 15 AFCON finals matches and desperate to end that streak. Botswana, meanwhile, suffered a 3–0 defeat to Senegal and have lost all four of their AFCON games to date. Avoiding a fifth straight loss would prevent Botswana from joining Benin as the only teams to start their AFCON history with five consecutive defeats.

This is the first-ever meeting between Benin and Botswana. Interestingly, all of Botswana’s AFCON matches have come against West African opposition, with Benin becoming the fifth such opponent. For Benin, this will be their 16th AFCON match against a 14th different opponent, Nigeria remains the only team they’ve faced more than once.

Senegal vs DR Congo | Kick-off: 17:00 CAT

Group D heavyweights Senegal and DR Congo meet at the Grand Stade de Tanger in a clash that could seal a last-16 spot for the winner.

This will be their third AFCON finals meeting. DR Congo triumphed 2–1 in 1968 en route to lifting the trophy, while Senegal won 2–0 in the 2002 quarter-finals before finishing runners-up. Overall, Senegal lead the head-to-head with six wins to DR Congo’s two, and are unbeaten in the last eight encounters (W6 D2).

Their rivalry has been renewed in recent years through World Cup qualifiers. In June 2024, they drew 1–1 in Senegal, while in September 2025, Senegal staged a dramatic comeback to win 3–2 in Kinshasa. Pape Thiaw’s men will look to continue that dominance and secure early qualification.

Uganda vs Tanzania | Kick-off: 19:30 CAT

East African pride is on the line as Uganda and Tanzania clash for the first time at AFCON finals in a must-win Group C encounter at Stade El Madina, Rabat.

Both sides lost their opening matches, Uganda 3–1 to Tunisia and Tanzania 2–1 to Nigeria and now face a do-or-die scenario. While this is their maiden AFCON meeting, the rivalry spans decades, with recent qualifiers for AFCON 2023 seeing away wins in both legs. Historically, Uganda have struggled against East African opposition at AFCON, while Tanzania’s only prior regional clash ended in a 3–2 defeat to Kenya in 2019.

Adding spice to the fixture, Uganda stars Khalid Aucho and Steven Mukwala currently play in Tanzania, ensuring an extra layer of familiarity and intensity.

Nigeria vs Tunisia | Kick-off: 22:00 CAT

The day concludes with a blockbuster Group C showdown at the Complexe Sportif de Fès as Nigeria and Tunisia battle for supremacy. Both sides opened with wins, Nigeria edged Tanzania 2–1, while Tunisia beat Uganda 3–1, and victory here would guarantee a place in the knockout stage.

Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi insists the Super Eagles are focused and motivated after missing out on World Cup qualification:

“There’s no pressure. This tournament is our chance to put things right. We know what it means to the nation, and we’re ready to give everything.”

Tunisia’s Montassar Talbi echoed similar sentiments:

“Against big teams, we rise to the occasion. Discipline and unity will be key. We must stay focused and give our best.”

Expect a tactical battle between two of Africa’s most consistent AFCON performers.
