African powerhouse tables enticing offer for Jose Riveiro – report

African football powerhouse Al Ahly SC are said to have tabled an enticing offer for soon-to-depart Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro.

The Spanish guitar will leave the Buccaneers at the end of the season having spent three years with the club.

Since joining in 2022, he has been a key figure in bringing back glory days for Ezimnyama Ngenkani, contributing to five trophy wins: three MTN8 titles and two Nedbank Cups

The chance to add further silverware remains, as the Sea Robbers are set to face rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup final on 10 May at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Furthermore, they are currently second in the Betway Premiership standings, challenging defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns for the league title.

With his days fading at Pirates, Riveiro is reportedly wanted by the Egyptian giants Al Ahly who recently sacked their coach Marcel Koller.

The Swiss tactician was shown the exit door following their elimination from the CAF Champions League by the South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.

Al Ahly subsequently issued a statement confirming that negotiations were underway to terminate Koller's contract on terms fair to both parties.

“Negotiations are ongoing with Koller to terminate the contract by mutual consent, in a manner befitting the club and its coach.

“Al-Ahly confirms its pride in what Koller has achieved, as he gave everything he could along with his assistant staff, who also deserve thanks.”
