Al Ahly legend has shared his honest feeling about the situation of Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau, who remains with the club despite ongoing speculation about his departure.

The left-footer was said to have had a fall-out with the head coach Marcel Koller towards the end of the previous season.

According to the reports from Egypt the coach indicated to the club that he didn’t want Tau anymore in his squad for this season.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion man was subsequently linked with various clubs including Kaizer Chiefs, Wydad Casablanca and his former club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Recently, he has also been reportedly wanted by a Saudi Arabian club NEOM who even travelled to Egypt to open talks with the Club of the Century over the potential transfer of the player.

He was also said to have been on the radar of the Turkish club Sivasspor just before their transfer window closed on 13 September.

However, Tau remains with the Red Devils. This past weekend, he made his first appearance this season against Gor Mahia.

He scored a brace with his side winning 3-0 in the first leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round.

Ahly legend Mohsen Saleh, who was also a club’s sporting director at some point, has expressed his relief that the Bafana star didn’t leave the club.

He believes that Tau was significantly impacted by an injury that sidelined him for an extended period, which he feels may have also affected the player’s mental state.

AHLY LEGEND EXPRESSES FRANK FEELINGS ABOUT PERCY TAU

“Percy Tau is one of the best players in Africa, and the injury kept him out of the starting line-up, which led to him being negatively affected psychologically due to sitting on the bench for a long time,”

the former Ahly sporting director said as per KickOff.

“I am very convinced of Percy Tau and thank God he did not leave Al Ahly, and the South African player is considered the best alternative to Wessam Abou Ali in the striker position.”
