Kaizer Chiefs transfer budget revealed – Is Nasreddine Nabi already doomed?

Amakhosi have been linked with a number of stars but the deals have taken longer to complete

Kaizer Chiefs’ inability to complete key transfer deals could be down to the club’s limited budget.

Chiefs have already brought in goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, defenders Bongani Sam and Rushwin Dortley, as well as attacker Gaston Sirino, who was signed as a free agent.

However, new coach Nasreddine Nabi has been calling for more signings to bolster the squad with a striker high on his wish list but so far, he has not received an addition as talks have taken longer than he had hoped.

According to Soccer Laduma, Chiefs’ transfer business could be stalling due to their limited budget, giving them little room for maneuver, especially on big-name targets.

Will Chiefs give Nasreddine Nabi all his main targets?

“The total monies that the club had budgeted for in this current window period was R50 million plus another R10 million for emergencies. But they were working on R50 million on player transfers as most of the money went to the technical team,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

The outlet reports that Chiefs have already spent more than half of their budget on the four players and are trying to see if they can drive the price down for their remaining targets with Fawaaz Basadien, Asanele Velebayi and Fiston Mayele among players believed to be in their sights.

“At the moment, the four players the team has already signed in Fiacre Ntwari, Rushwin Dortley, Bongani Sam and Gaston Sirino, they have spent about R29.5 million and most of the money went to Dortley and Ntwari,” the source further stated.

Amakhosi could end up signing cheaper alternatives

“Sirino got a better signing on fee because he came in as a free agent and Bongani had the lowest buying offer so far. The R50 million was budgeted to buy at least four or five players. If that would work, then they would use the extra R10 million as emergency to cover for the buying of players.”

Chiefs are believed to be looking to bring in two or three more players but all deals must not go beyond the R21 million that they are left with to spend and it could mean going for cheaper alternatives if the main targets prove too expensive.
