Bafana Bafana grabbed their ticket after topping their CAF Qualification Group that had heavyweights Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Lesotho. This will be the first time since 2010 that they will be competing with the best in the world.

One of the players who played a crucial role in helping the nation qualify for the competition is FCSB’s Siyabonga Ngezana. He has been battling with fitness issues, and it seems the Belgian didn’t want to risk him.

FCSB interim coach Lucian Filip has confirmed the centre-back has not been called by Bafana Bafana but that doesn’t mean it is the end for him.

“He has to respect his club, because of the club he was in the national team’s attention,” Filip said as quoted by Antena Sports.

“[No. Siyabonga Ngezana was not called up to the World Cup], he is disappointed, but that’s life, football doesn’t end here. He has to respect his club, because of the club he was in the national team’s attention. I hope he will be present at the next Championship,” the tactician concluded.
